My Recommended Authors and Book Reviews
Many of you have asked for my personal book recommendations, so I’ve put together a selection that delves into the world of psychics, mediums, and some of the world’s greatest spiritual teachers.
Dr. Michael Newton and Dr Brian Weiss
I really enjoy and have always found Dr. Michael Newton’s and Brian Weiss’ books really interesting. These authors delve into past-life regression and the experiences of souls between lifetimes, offering profound insights into our spiritual journeys. Their research has opened doors to understanding the continuity of consciousness and the purpose of our existence beyond the physical plane.
Arigo (José Pedro de Freitas)
On a different note, I am especially fascinated by the story of Arigo, the “Surgeon of the Rusty Knife”. “Arigo’s case is truly remarkable and stands apart from the overwhelming majority of psychic surgery claims, which, in my opinion, are 99.99% fraudulent and reliant on sleight of hand and trickery.” His abilities were rigorously tested and proven by a team of doctors who travelled from the United States to Brazil to investigate him. Despite the scepticism surrounding psychic surgery, Arigo’s work was extraordinary. Without formal medical training, he performed surgeries that achieved remarkable results, challenging conventional medical understanding. Its well worth a read and the book can be found on Ebay.
Doris Stokes
Throughout the years, I’ve also enjoyed the work of Doris Stokes, who, in my eyes, was one of the world’s best mediums. Her ability to communicate with the spirit world and deliver messages with such clarity is unparalleled. Doris Stokes’ mediumistic ability, like that of Arigo and other exceptional individuals, challenges our understanding of the boundaries between the physical and spiritual realms. Her books can also be found on Ebay.
Edgar Cayce
Born on March 18, 1877, and passing away on January 3, 1945, Edgar Cayce is known as the “Sleeping Prophet.” His teachings offered valuable insights into holistic health, reincarnation, and the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. Over his lifetime, Edgar gave over 14,000 readings, all of which have been archived at the Edgar Cayce Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) in Virginia Beach. These readings covered a wide range of subjects, from health and dream interpretation to past lives and spiritual guidance.
Edgar was also a deeply religious man who read the Bible from cover to cover for every year of his life. He taught Sunday school and believed his work was an extension of his Christian faith, emphasizing the importance of living in alignment with divine principles and spiritual growth.
Eckhart Tolle
Eckhart Tolles is a spiritual teacher and author best known for his books, “The Power of Now” and “A New Earth”. His teachings focus on the importance of living in the present moment and freeing oneself from the grip of the ego, which he describes as the source of human suffering. Eckhart’s work draws from a variety of spiritual traditions, blending mindfulness, self-awareness, and practical wisdom to guide readers toward inner peace and fulfillment. His simple yet profound messages have inspired millions worldwide to embrace stillness and awaken to a deeper sense of being. Eckhart has written many books, and some of his audiobooks are available to listen to on YouTube.
George Anderson
George Anderson is a well-known medium in the United States, celebrated for his ability to connect with those who have passed away. With over four decades of experience, he has conducted thousands of private and group readings, offering comfort and closure to individuals seeking to communicate with loved ones in the afterlife. George’s work gained widespread recognition after being featured in books like We Don’t Die that was written by Joel Martin, where his abilities were explored in depth. Despite scepticism surrounding mediumship, his accuracy and calming presence have made him a trusted figure for many seeking spiritual guidance and reassurance.
Gary Zukav
Gary Zukav is a renowned author and spiritual teacher best known for his bestselling book The Seat of the Soul, first published in 1989. His work focuses on exploring themes like authentic power, emotional awareness, and spiritual growth. Gary emphasizes the importance of aligning with one’s soul to create a meaningful and fulfilling life. With a background that includes a degree in International Relations from Harvard and service as a Green Beret in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, his journey from intellectual pursuits to spiritual exploration has inspired millions. Through his books, teachings, and the Seat of the Soul Institute, Gary Zukav has become a leading voice in the realms of personal transformation and conscious living.

Wisdom of Souls – Case Studies of Life Between Lives
The Newton Institute

Re1 February 2020
In The Wisdom of Souls, Dr. Michael Newton, the renowned hypnotherapist and author of Journey of Souls, presents a deep exploration of the spiritual realm through the lens of his research into past life regression and the experiences of the soul between lifetimes. This book extends the concepts introduced in his earlier works, offering readers a comprehensive understanding of the afterlife, the purpose of human existence, and the wisdom that souls gather over countless lifetimes.
Dr. Newton’s approach is rooted in his pioneering work with clients under deep hypnosis, which allowed them to access memories from their soul’s experiences in the spirit world. Through these sessions, he has uncovered profound insights into the journey of the soul, its evolution, and the lessons it learns. The Wisdom of Souls builds on these findings, with a focus on the spiritual growth that takes place between incarnations.
One of the most striking aspects of this book is Newton’s thorough examination of the soul’s purpose. According to his research, the soul’s main objective is to evolve through experiences of love, service, and personal growth. The Wisdom of Souls suggests that each incarnation is part of a larger plan, a continuous cycle of learning that helps the soul progress. The book emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, compassion, and understanding as core aspects of spiritual growth.
Memories of the Afterlife
Edited by Dr Michael Newton with Case Studies by Members of TNI

ReOctober 1st 2009
Memories of the Afterlife is the fourth book to focus on Dr. Michael Newton’s work in Life Between Lives (LBL) hypnotic regression and it is one with a very different style from its predecessors. While Dr. Newton is the editor, there are thirty-two individual authors who are certified Life Between Lives hypnotherapists from The Newton Institute, trained in Dr. Newton’s methodology, each of whom has selected an actual case history from their files. Each case in Memories of the Afterlife represents one chapter in the book.
Dr. Newton’s first three books described his own research into the spirit world involving the spiritual journeys of thousands of clients over many years. They have sold over a million copies. His goal was to give the public an understanding of the afterlife in great detail. His mission in providing a model of the spirit world was to empower people from all walks of life, whatever their spirit persuasion, by this knowledge and this is the mission of the institute he founded. The great strength of his work is the discovery that all sacred spiritual information exists in the mind of every person and when accessed will bring both purpose and peace to people struggling to make their place on this difficult planet.
Memories of the Afterlife is a fascinating study of thirty-two ordinary people seeking a personalized spiritual experience of their own without religious intermediaries. As the chapters unfold and each individual story develops, readers are drawn into a broad spectrum of the lives, experiences and emotions of each client. The cases begin by summarizing the client’s reasons for seeking spiritual regression. Readers are clearly shown how personal issues can be uncovered and resolved through the Life Between Lives process.

2000
Dr. Michael Newton’s second book, Destiny of Souls, was awarded “Metaphysical Book of the Year” in 2001 by the independent publishers association at their annual Book Exposition of America Meeting. Based upon his groundbreaking research into the afterlife, Dr. Newton wrote Destiny of Souls for first-time venture’s into the subject and for readers of his best-selling first volume, Journey of Souls.
When Dr. Newton, a certified Master Hypnotherapist, began regressing his clients back in time to access their memories of former lives he stumbled onto a discovery of enormous proportions: that it is possible to “see” into the spirit world through the mind’s eye of subjects who are in a hypnotised or super conscious state. Moreover, clients in this altered state are able to describe what their soul was doing between lives on Earth. Journey of Souls was my first pilgrimage with my clients through the spirit world on the great river of eternity.
Destiny of Souls will take you on a second expedition into the wonders of the spirit world along the same river, with side trips up major tributaries. Our exploration will uncover more of the hidden aspects of the route taken after death and expand your understanding of the incredible sense of order within the afterlife. Journey of Souls presented the afterlife in a tight, orderly progression of events. It addressed what it is like to die and cross over – who meets us, where we go, and what we do as souls in the spirit world before choosing our next body for reincarnation. Destiny of Souls uncovers more of the hidden aspects of the route to give people a greater perspective of the whole. The book is organised by topical categories rather than by progressive time and location, highlighting the recollections of 67 people who articulately described their perceptions while undergoing a Spiritual Regression session with Dr. Newton. By the time Destiny of Souls was published in the year 2000, Dr. Newton had spiritually regressed over 7,000 individuals into a deep state of trance during which they recalled and described their experiences between lives as eternal spirits.

Why are you here on Earth? Where will you go after death? What will happen to you when you get there? Many books have been written about past lives, but there has been very scant information about the ongoing existence of our souls as we await rebirth – until Journey of Souls was published in 1994. Now a best-selling classic, Journey of Souls summarizes Dr. Michael Newton’s research and work with individuals whom he placed in a state of deep hypnosis during which they recalled their experiences between lives as eternal spirits.
When Dr. Newton, a certified Master Hypnotherapist, began regressing his clients back in time to access their memories of former lives he stumbled onto a discovery of enormous proportions: that it is possible to “see” into the spirit world through the mind’s eye of subjects who are in a hypnotized or superconscious state. Moreover, clients in this altered state are able to describe what their soul was doing between lives on Earth.
Journey of Souls, Dr. Newton narrates and comments upon the progressive “travel log” of 29 of his clients who movingly described what happened to them between their former reincarnations on earth. They revealed graphic details about how it feels to die, who meets us right after death, what the spirit world is really like, where we go and what we do as souls, and why we choose to come back in certain bodies.
Finding one’s place in the spirit world initiates a deep process of healing for it provides understanding of the purpose behind significant life choices, and how and why your soul – and the souls of those you love – lives eternally. After reading Journey of Souls, you will gain a better understanding of the immortality of the human soul…and you will meet day-to-day personal challenges with a greater sense of purpose as you begin to understand the reasons behind events in your own life.
Arigo: The Surgeon of the Rusty Knife
John G Fuller
Re
In May of 1968, a team of American medical doctors arrived in a small plateau village of Brazil with extensive modern medical equipment to study a peasant named Arigo, whose cures and surgery had been reported to be nothing short of miraculous! What they uncovered was a story that defies belief and yet it is a true story. This is the documented account of a man who cured hundreds of thousands of sick and dying and yet was prosecuted by the government under which he lived and ostracized by the church in which he fervently believed.
This is the strange and wonderful story of Arigo – one of the greatest healers of all time. Arigo had only a third grade education and no medical training whatsoever, yet thousands flocked to the small village where he lived from all over Brazil and South America, indeed from all over the world, to be cured by him. He performed hundreds of operations daily without antiseptics – usually with an ordinary kitchen knife or jackknife – without anesthetics, without tying off blood vessels, without major bleeding, without any of the benefits of modern science.
He made thousands of correct diagnoses without even examining the patient. He wrote thousands of prescriptions which were pharmacologically accurate but in unusual combinations and potency. And, one after the other, patients left his primitive ‘clinic’ cured. He saved many with cancer and other fatal diseases who had been given up as hopeless by leading doctors and hospitals in many of the most advanced countries.
He performed the most excruciatingly painful procedures without any discomfort to the patient. Among those he healed were the educated, famous, and wealthy as well as the poor and desolate. He never charged for his services or would accept any remuneration. Arigo’s healings were witnessed by both Brazilian and American doctors. Among the latter was Henry K. Puharich, M.D., leader of the American team, who has written an afterword for Arigo….”

The Power of Now
Eckhart Tolle
Namaste Publishing
Eckhart Tolle’s message is simple: living in the now is the truest path to happiness and enlightenment. And while this message may not seem stunningly original or fresh, Tolle’s clear writing, supportive voice and enthusiasm make this an excellent manual for anyone who’s ever wondered what exactly “living in the now” means. Foremost, Tolle is a world-class teacher, able to explain complicated concepts in concrete language. More importantly, within a chapter of reading this book, readers are already holding the world in a different container–more conscious of how thoughts and emotions get in the way of their ability to live in genuine peace and happiness.
Tolle packs a lot of information and inspirational ideas into The Power of Now. (Topics include the source of Chi, enlightened relationships, creative use of the mind, impermanence and the cycle of life.) Thankfully, he’s added markers that symbolise “break time”. This is when readers should close the book and mull over what they just read. As a result, The Power of Now reads like the highly acclaimed A Course in Miracles–a spiritual guidebook that has the potential to inspire just as many study groups and change just as many lives for the better.
